The Chess Pieces Museum in Rotterdam

For this one time I will do a post in English to promote this really wonderful little museum.

Here we go:

The Chess Piece museum in Rotterdam is a must for any chess fan. Link: http://www.schaakstukkenmuseum.nl/ Moreover, it is located in one of those fascinating "Kubus" houses at the Blaak: http://www.kubuswoning.nl

So a great little museum, easy to reach, great venue and also an big choice of restaurants, bars and even the local Youthhostel around the corner (offering free WiFi).

The museum does a yearly competition for home crafted chess sets. The photo shows this years entries. Full right: Sea shell set. Full left AJAX soccer team set. That set in Rotterdam, home of the Feyenoord team, is a bit asking for trouble .

There is much more to see there. But then there is just one way to find out: go there yourselves and find out more about wonderful things such as the Rotterdam chess set, simple, straightforward, classy and VERY much Rotterdamski upon first sight.

Good for several hours for the lowest entrance fee I ever encountered! Free drink as well.

Enjoy!! Do take your camera with you ....

PS: Karel: many thanks for patiently holding my Canon flash up all the time until I found the right positions and exposure settings for this photo.
