Abruzzo

Ik mocht weer eens naar Abruzzo, Italïe. Deze reis voert me eerst per vliegtuig over de Alpen naar Rome. Met een beetje geluk heb ik dan een prachtig uitzicht over het berglandschap.

Op het vliegveld van Fuimocino wordt ik afgehaald door Ciro, de vaste taxi-chauffeur van de fabriek. Het is een uur of drie stevig doorrijden door een prachtig berglandschap dwars door de "laars" van Italïe naar de Adriatische kust.

Abruzzo is een prachtige streek met heerlijke wijnen, de Montepulciano. Mijn hotel ligt in Lanciano, een kustplaats en dus een uitgelezen plek voor heerlijke visschotels.

Het waren alles bij elkaar maar drie dagen en relatief erg veel reizen, maar toch zeker weer de moeite waard. Op de terugreis wist ik ook nog net een vlucht eerder naar huis te pakken. Het was het allerlaatste stoeltje op een bomvolle vlucht!

I had to go to Abruzzo, Italy once more. This trip takes me by plane to Rome first. With some luck it will offer me some beautiful views over the Swiss Alps from the plane.

At the Fiumocino Airport I will be met by Ciro, the taxi-driver of choice of the factory, and then it is about a three hours drive amidst beautiful mountains straight across Italy to the Adriatic coast.

Abruzzo is a wonderful region with great wines, the Montepulciano. The hotel is located in Lanciano on the coast and thus it is just the place to be if you like fish food.

The trip was only three days and most of it was travelling, but it sure was worth while. On the way back I managed to take an earlier flight too. The very last free seat in that plane, lucky me..
